Properties:

Spinach in general is rich in nutrients and vitamins, such as iron, vitamin A, vitamin C, folic acid and fiber. It is also low in calories, making it a healthy option to include in your diet.

Differences from other spinach:

'Blommsdale Savoy Spinach' is differentiated from other spinach varieties by its characteristic curly or ribbed leaf, which gives it a distinctive appearance and crispier texture.

Climate:

It is a cool climate plant and prefers moderate temperatures. It develops best in temperate climates, with temperatures between 15°C and 20°C. It can tolerate some light frosts, but does not do well in extremely hot climates.

Sowing:

It should be planted directly in the ground or in pots . Definitely since it does not tolerate transplanting. It is important to ensure that the soil is well drained and enriched with organic matter.

Planting method:

Spinach seeds are sown at a depth of about 1 to 1.5 centimeters. It is recommended to space the seeds around 5 to 10 centimeters to allow good plant growth.

Germination:

The time it takes for a spinach seed to germinate can vary depending on environmental conditions. It usually takes 7 to 14 days for a spinach seed to germinate.

For germination to be successful, adequate soil temperature is required, which is usually between 15°C and 20°C. It is also important to provide constant but not excessive humidity. Additionally, spinach seeds need light to germinate, so they should be placed near the surface of the soil without covering them completely.

Crop:

Spinach requires nutrient-rich, well-drained soil. The soil should be kept moist, but not waterlogged. Partial shade can be provided during the hottest days to prevent the plant from becoming stressed.

Care:

It is important to keep spinach well watered and free of weeds. In addition, possible pests and diseases, such as aphids or powdery mildew, must be monitored and controlled.

Harvest or collection:

It can be harvested when the leaves reach the desired size, usually around 40 to 50 days after sowing . You can harvest the outer leaves and leave the inner leaves to continue growing. The leaves can be harvested as needed, thus keeping the plant in continuous production.
