Historical origin : The radish is a root vegetable, native to Asia, specifically China and Japan. It is believed to have been cultivated for thousands of years in these regions before spreading to other parts of the world.

Time from planting to harvest: The long radish usually has a relatively short growing time. From sowing the seeds to harvesting the roots, it usually takes between 35 and 55 days, depending on the variety and growing conditions.

Soil: Prefers light, loose and well-drained soils. A soil rich in organic matter will favor the development of roots.

Climate and temperature: Radish is a plant that prefers cool climates and moderate temperatures. The ideal temperatures for its growth are around 15-20 °C. It can withstand some light frost.

Moisture: Requires constant watering to keep the soil moist, but not waterlogged.

Cultivation: It is a plant that is easy to grow and can adapt well to small spaces such as urban gardens or family gardens. It is advisable to keep a distance of about 10 cm between the plants so that they have enough space to develop their roots.

Get the kids involved:

Through urban gardening or home gardens, children can learn about the life cycle of plants, the importance of nature in our lives, and develop a greater appreciation for the environment. Additionally, growing their own food teaches them about sustainability and the value of producing what is consumed. This connection with nature from an early age can foster love and care for the environment, turning them into future defenders of ecology and the preservation of the planet.
