Cauliflower (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis) is a vegetable that has a rich history and is an excellent option for self-sustaining cultivation at home.

Historical origin:
Cauliflower is native to the Mediterranean region, specifically Asia Minor, and its cultivation dates back several centuries. The ancient Romans and Greeks already cultivated it and appreciated it for its nutritional qualities and its unique flavor.

Planting time to harvest:
Generally it ranges from 75 to 100 days. Some early varieties can be harvested in about 60 days, while others can take up to 120 days to be ready for harvest.

Soil, climate, temperature and humidity:
Cauliflower prefers soils that are rich in organic matter, well-drained, and slightly acidic, with a pH of around 6.5 to 7.5. Regarding the climate, it grows best in temperate climate regions, since extremely hot or cold temperatures can affect its development. The ideal temperature for growth is between 18°C and 22°C. It is important to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged, as excess water can damage the roots.
