The habanero chili is the best-known species in the world and one of the hottest. There are very few chili peppers that are hotter than the Chocolate Habanero ( also called Black Congo) . This variant of the habanero owes its name to its chocolate color and is more than 50 times hotter than a jalapeño. The chilies are about 5 cm. long and 2.5 cm. in diameter. The Habanero has a long growing season and loves heat. The yield of chili peppers is high. Habanero chocolate has a unique flavor.

Harvest time is at least 90 days and fruit discoloration is green to brown.

This fruit has a medium-high level of spiciness: it can reach up to 300,000 Scoville units!

Its name, Chocolate Habanero, comes from the particular color of the fruit with brown-black tones, with a barely perceptible dark chocolate aromatic note that when eaten fresh and is even more accentuated when left to dry.


The plant of this variety is very productive, if cared for, it grows up to 60-90 cm in height. It is suggested for those who live in the city, to be grown in a large vase. It has hanging fruits, their color varies from green to brown, the height of the fruits varies between 4 and 6 cm, the width varies between 2.5 and 5 cm, full ripening takes place at the end of the season. Complete ripening of the fruits takes place between August and September.


To grow it, the weather will be very sunny and warm; Below 10 º C the stem and leaves begin to suffer and the soil must be moist during the first hours of irrigation, but not excessively. You should avoid the typical standing water that could lead to decay.

Starting with the fruits, it is advisable to handle them in well-ventilated areas. Wear a mask and a pair of gloves, especially if you want to get dried chili powder, however, keep in mind that they do not cause irreversible damage over time.

If your eye or mucous membranes accidentally touch it, you will immediately feel burning. Rinse with water. The burning sensation will gradually disappear.
