3,300 years ago this plant was already cultivated by the Medes (today Iraq and Iran). It belongs to the legume family. Herbaceous plant with small, bright green leaves. It reaches approximately 1 m in height, has small violet flowers grouped at the ends of the stems and small pods where the seeds are housed. It adapts to a wide variety of climates.

It is used as a food supplement in salads (sprouts), fresh water (green leaves), infusions, among others and originally as forage. It is also appreciated for its medicinal properties. It is recommended to cure various problems of the digestive, respiratory, reproductive, urinary and nervous systems. For kidney ailments, an infusion is prepared which is ingested as "use water" and baths are taken with it to mitigate the pain.

SOWING: Sow indoors or outdoors, in a pot, planter, seedbed for transplanting or directly into the ground (broadcast). Cover with a layer of soil of approximately 1 cm, spreading the seeds evenly. Germination occurs depending on soil conditions, temperature and humidity. If you want to consume it as sprouts, spread the seeds on a smooth surface and cover them with a damp cloth. In a few days, germination will occur and it will be ready for consumption.

HARVEST: Cut the plant when it reaches 20 to 30 cm in height or when it begins to flower.
